PERENNIAL POWERHOUSES AWAIT FIRST-ROUND FOES Six months after another roller-coaster campaign began, one word now defines the 2009 season: October. The postseason picture is rapidly taking shape across the bigs, as perennial powerhouses like the Yankees, Angels, Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers and Phillies have already clinched playoff spots.
