 | | Wild Card Magic number now at 6! Granted we were stifled pretty good by Zack Greinke last night (most teams have been this year). As Monty Python says, "always look on the bright side of life!" (which in this case is that Texas lost last night -- dropping our Magic Number to 6. With 12 games, remaining, we just need to win six of them to clinch a playoff spot -- and that's if Texas wins the rest of their games. So, while the subject line in my e-mail may be a little bold, it also might be a little true. But, leaving nothing to chance, I'm knocking on wood as I write this anyhow. While the team's been gone on this road trip, it hasn't calmed Fenway Park down one bit. I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to reveal about this, but let's just say there's a major motion picture that's been filming here at the Park all week. There have been fake, I repeat, FAKE gunfire, explosions, etc. which has been a little exciting. As much as I walk by the set, you'd think they'd ask me to be an extra, but suffice to say there have been no such offers yet. One thing I definitely want to highlight -- as we keep two eyes fixed on our magic number and possible postseason play -- is the beginning of the Arizona Fall League, which can tout some of the best prospects in baseball. I've included a section below so you can get to know our players who will be playing in the league, joining the Nationals top draft pick/phenom Stephen Strasburg. Definitely check out this section, because this is another great chance to learn about some of our top prospects, including our top hitting and pitching prospects from this year. All the best from a Front Office that is scoreboard watching and magic number counting, The Voice of the Nation p.s. -- Also be sure to check out my straw poll below. I really want to know who you think is our Red Sox MVP for this season! Oh, there's another game of Two Truths and a Lie (this time about Ramon Ramirez). | | |
